Calculating the CCF involves noting the square footage of a space and power dissipation. The CCF then uses the capacity and number of units cooling to come up with a comprehensive measurement.
The CCF can be useful in a company’s efforts to maximize the potential of its building systems to house technology assets. With poor resource utilization, much of the cold air that is supplied to the space may not go into the critical systems that it’s meant to protect. Unbalanced cooling can result in excessively hot hardware, even though there are appropriately rated cooling units in the room. In a sense, using the CFF and other methods to control data center cooling is like doing a heating and cooling assessment of a home as it ensures that resources are properly utilized.
