In context-aware security, security researchers gather different types of data, including device locations, time of day, device types and other indicators, that may have some bearing on security performance.

Techopedia Explains Context-Aware Security

The use of context-aware security tools has given rise to a special category of business intelligence that could be called "security intelligence" — any kind of information that may aid the security processes by informing systems about the context of cyber-threats or cyber-attacks.

Although individual vendors can offer context-aware security applications, large vendors have taken the initiative to standardize the industry. For example, in 2013, Cisco created the pxGrid framework in collaboration with various partners to allow different vendor platforms to share context-aware security information. Standards groups such as the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) could also play an important role in the development of context-aware security tools.
