What Does Bunny Hopping Mean?
Bunny hopping is a video game technique used in first-person shooter (FPS) games in which the player continually runs and jumps, often while firing a weapon. Bunny hopping usually serves one of two purposes:
- Avoiding Attacks: Bunny hopping can throw off opponents’ aim and give the hopper an opportunity to attack.
- Gaining Speed: Bunny hopping can increase the speed at which players move, allowing them to close the distance when attacking opponents.
Bunny hopping may aslo be known as run, gun and jump.
Techopedia Explains Bunny Hopping
Like some forms of camping, bunny hopping is considered to be a cheap (but effective) strategy. In response to the spread of bunny hopping, many shooter games have been patched to reduce hopping speeds, or have added stamina meters so that characters begins to tire after continued running or jumping. Other games embraced bunny hopping just as they did sniping, encouraging matches where all players bunny hopped in levels that featured lowered gravity for super jumps.
