A blogroll is a list of other blogs or websites that a blogger endorses, commonly references or is affiliated with. A blogroll is generally found on one of the blog’s side columns.

Blogrolls are a popular networking tool among bloggers. The blogroll usually includes other bloggers a blogger likes and recommends. It is an unwritten rule among bloggers that linking favors should be returned. As such, blogrolls provide a way to drive traffic to a blog and perhaps boost its search engine optimization by increasing the number of inbound links.
Bloggers sometimes divide their blogrolls into categories to separate blogs that are related to the blog on which the blogroll appears, and other unrelated blogs the blogger enjoys and follows.
