What Does Android Tablet Mean?
An Android tablet is a tablet-sized PC that runs on Google’s Android operating system (OS). Android tablets include almost all the key features found in a regular tablet PC, including office applications, games, Web browsers and many other programs.
However, because the Android platform is designed by Google, Google’s cloud-based applications are integrated into Android tablets. By default, emails are sent and received via Gmail; videos are broadcasted on YouTube; the world map is explored via Google Maps; books are read with Google Books; video chat is facilitated by Google Talk and Internet browsing occurs via Google Chrome.

The original Android OS was meant for smartphones and smaller devices. To meet the demands of tablet PCs, a slightly different Android platform was designed. Android 3.0, code-named Honeycomb, was the first Android version designed specifically for tablet computers. The Motorola Xoom and the Toshiba Tablet were the first two Android tablets to run this version. Older Android tablets that ran on earlier Android versions include the Dell Streak, Samsung Galaxy Tab, ViewSonic ViewPad100, Toshiba Folio100 and Archos 101.
