Techopedia Explains Alter Script

Database tables are created and edited by way of statements, which add, modify and/or delete values that collectively define the overall database. Each of these statements has a very specific function, and although it can be difficult to keep track of every single statement made in the creation and/or modification of a model or database, it is important to do so accurately. For that and other reasons, alter scripts come in handy for creating and/or modifying databases in a timely manner. An alter script can log certain modifications made to one model that can be synchronized with others.
